Cinnamon rolls

by Doreen Düe | Food blogger with camper van

The fact is: There's absolutely nothing better than picking up fresh, yet lukewarm, fluffy soft yeast pastries piece by piece and inhaling sweet cinnamon flavour!

I've really already prepared cinnamon rolls from the pan. I love it when the yeast dough rises and this beautiful cinnamon snail flower is created.

No cake in a motor home? Cinnamon rolls!

Are guests coming for coffee? Cinnamon rolls!

Do children need to be employed? Cinnamon rolls!

Dead easy

Because the preparation is really easy and children love to help with it. Here I was passionately supported by Lou & Merle. The two of them gave their all during the kneading. I gave them supportive verbal motivation ;). However, while kneading the dough, Lou said that there would probably be far too few cinnamon buns. So I briefly took over the kneading and the two girls quickly mixed together another dough. Lou was right, of course, because in the end there were only 3 of the 27 wonderfully delicious cinnamon buns left. For 6 people.

Ingredients
for a 22 cm pan, double the ingredients for a large pan

for 14 pieces

  • 300 g flour
  • 50 g sugar
  • 25 ml oil (sunflower or rapeseed)
  • 1 bag dry yeast
  • 150 ml water, lukewarm

For filling

  • 30 g butter or margarine
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

For casting sugar

  • 100 g icing sugar
  • 1 - 2 tbsp water
1
Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and pour in the lukewarm water.
2
Stir the ingredients into a crunchy dough and then patiently knead it with your hands on the work surface until the yeast dough gets a smooth, soft surface.
3
Rolls out the yeast dough on an area of 40 x 20 cm.
4
Melts the butter/margarine and distributes it on the dough, leaving a 1 cm border free on one long side.
5
Blends sugar and cinnamon and also distributes it on the dough.
6
Now roll up the dough from the other long side and cut it into 14 rolls.
7
Place baking paper in your pan and place the cinnamon rolls, cut side up.
8
Place the lid on the pan and let the snails rise for 30 to 40 minutes.
9
Then bake the cinnamon rolls on the smallest heat for 20 minutes.
You will get up well again and a wonderful cinnamon cloud will float in your motorhome. The sugar collects at the bottom and caramelises there.
10
After baking, mix the icing sugar with the water for the icing and distribute it to the warm cinnamon rolls.

Just a short wait and then try it right away!
