Through Germany's north-east with the four-legged

Hiking is also a dog's delight

(djd). They are curious, adventurous, absolutely loyal and a full family member - the beloved four-legged friends look forward to every exercise with their master or mistress. Undisturbed and in the middle of nature, the Uckermark with its endless fields, intact forests and over 500 lakes, only an hour's drive from Germany's capital, is the perfect place for all dog lovers.

Where dogs are very welcome on the lake

In the middle of nature, with crystal clear water, the Dreetzsee offers itself as a starting point for extended excursions by boat, bike or on foot. On the south bank is a 10 hectare nature campsite with cozy wooden holiday homes and camping barrels. These are rented to guests with dogs in the off-season only. An extra bathing area has been set up for the four-legged friends to the right and left of the campsite.

If you want to spend a few days in a lovingly restored barn in the lake-rich, hilly end moraine region of the Uckerseen, we recommend the Fergitz barn. The nearby Wrietzensee has a natural swimming area that is suitable for dogs. Another recommendation is the Stadtsee-Pension Templin, located directly on the Templiner Stadtsee and equipped with its own lake access and its own rowing boat. The breakfast buffet is served in the winter garden at the back of the main house. When the weather is nice, the terrace in front invites you to linger. You can find further guesthouses for vacationers with dogs as well as all designated dog bathing areas in the Uckermark at www.tourismus-uckermark.de/unterwegs/mit-dem-hund.

Hiking in the most beautiful landscapes

It is well known that dog owners enjoy being in nature in all weathers. A varied 10-kilometer circular route starts in Annenwalde. The place is known for its glassworks and is located in the beautiful heathland between Templin and Lychen. The starting point is the manor park near the church, which is decorated with many sculptures and offers a wonderful view of the Densowsee. The path continues to the beaver observation tower, to the village of Beutel with its striking half-timbered bell tower and back to Annenwalde via the Krams forester's lodge. A little less time or stamina? Then the 5-kilometer circular route around the Great Warthesee in Boitzenburger Land with two bathing areas is just the thing. If you want to see Prenzlau, the capital of the Uckermark, we recommend the 3-kilometer circular hiking trail through the ground moraine area around Grünow. The starting point is the parking lot at Grünower See, directly in front of the Prenzlau gates.
