Baroque Street SaarPfalz

A route of discovery and enjoyment

The Baroque Steet SaarPfalz brings the history of three small, closely connected rulers close to the mighty neighbor France to life at the end of the Baroque period.

The route connects Saarbrücken, Ottweiler, Zweibrücken and Blieskastel - the former residences of the Princes of Nassau-Saarbrücken, the Dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken and the Counts von der Leyen. Their empires experienced a splendid heyday in the 18th century.

Much was lost in the French Revolution. But the baroque buildings still provide a stylish setting for music, art and cuisine. The baroque attitude to life lives on at festivals, in hospitality and in "savoir vivre". Go on a voyage of discovery!

Country outings

Let yourself be carried away. Over the ups and downs of the hill country with its wide views and through dense forests, which used to be the hunting grounds of the rulers. Their country houses and hunting lodges are now popular excursion destinations in the countryside. You can also discover the evidence of handicrafts and early industry.

On shoemaker’s pony, you’ll go into the middle of nature - sometimes premium hiking, sometimes theme-oriented. Numerous hiking suggestions invite you to search for traces of the Baroque.

Enjoyment tours

The best way to experience the city and the country is on a culinary discovery tour. Baroque enthusiasts will lead you to unexpected treasures and very special table delights on selected dates. The chefs are often inspired by original baroque recipes from the region.

Even if you are traveling on your own, it is worth stopping at. After your tour of discovery, cafes, bistros and restaurants invite you to try the kitchen and cellar and review what you have experienced.

Or let yourself be seduced to the highest culinary delights. Whether Bib Gourmand, one, two or three stars - excellent restaurants can be found along the BarockStraße SaarPfalz like a string of pearls.
