Schmitten

The highest municipality in the Taunus, Schmitten, fits in picturesquely into the landscape, as you will notice during your journey. Well-marked hiking trails, breathtaking views of the Taunus landscape and a wide range of leisure activities make your stay a pleasure and made the area known as a travel destination as early as the 19th century. Its 881 meters make the Großer Feldberg a popular excursion destination. Those who climb the steps of the observation tower will be rewarded with breathtaking views from the "height".

The landmarks of the town, which is over 1,000 years old, are the Kreuzkapelle chapel and the well-preserved Obertor and Untertort towers. Surrounded by half-timbered houses worth seeing and the remains of the town wall, the Amthof dominates the image of the historic old town.
