Nuremberg Christmas Market

Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt

The world's best-known Christmas market is probably the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt, which is opened every year on the Friday before the first Advent by the golden-curled, winged Christ Child with his prologue from the gallery of the Frauenkirche. The Christkindlesmarkt runs through the entire Old Town of Nuremberg. Culinary delights range from Franconian gingerbread to juicy Nuremberg bratwursts, which are freshly grilled all over the Christkindlesmarkt. Traditional Franconian handicrafts are also on sale. There is a special area of the Christkindlesmarkt for children with a nostalgic carousel and hands-on stalls. There, children can bake biscuits, draw candles and get creative in many other ways.

Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt Hamburg

Although Hamburg's Christmas market is one of the younger markets of its kind, it is nevertheless completely dedicated to tradition.  The eighty or so stalls around the Hanseatic city's magnificent town hall invite visitors on a journey back in time. Culinary delights can be found in the specialities alley, in the crafts alley you can watch artisans at work, in the sweet tooth alley there is handmade chocolate and homemade chocolates, and in the toy alley children can marvel at a nostalgic horse-drawn carousel. And of course take a ride! The mulled wine created especially for the Hamburg Christmas Market is particularly recommended.
